C is for Cambridge Tea House

Picking a C restaurant proved to be a struggle. Over the course of deciding where and when we would go, I now have a list of 13 other C restaurants I want to try. What I learned is half the restaurants beginning with C are closed on Sundays.

Let me start by saying I had never heard of the Cambridge Tea House until I googled “Columbus brunch spots starting with ‘C’” and skimmed Nick’s Columbus Restaurant Guide for places starting with C. My roommate on the other hand had tried to take her mom there more than once and couldn’t get a table.

Take note, make a reservation.

Our reservation was set for what turned out to be a snowy Sunday afternoon. After literally dragging Kelsey out of bed (Sunday’s are hard), Jack picked us up, bless him, our always chauffeur. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the environment was great.

As soon as I walked in, it was like I was transported to someone’s personal dining room.

The space is small and intimate with red booths and windows on three walls.

They have daily specials, displayed on a handwritten chalkboard at the front. I’m a sucker for featured items so I tried the quiche du jour (mushroom, sautéed onion and swiss) with a fruit salad and a scone. Kelsey and Jack both had the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with bacon. None of us tried their tea (oops) but the Roaming Goat coffee hit the spot and was served with sugar cubes!

It’s the perfect spot for a ladies lunch or to take a visiting relative. I will definitely be back because I know off the top of my head there are at least 3 regular menu items I’m dying to try. I’m pretty upset it took me this long to learn of it’s existence.

Three letters in, still going strong. D is coming up next!
