The waffles are here

Updated: Feb 8, 2019

Belgian Iron Wafel Co opened their doors last month, serving up their special liege waffle. Here's what I learned during the sneak peak for Columbus foodies.

Before their official opening, Belgian Iron hosted a group of bloggers to share the secrets of their liege waffle.

The Liege-style Waffle is made with real Belgian pearl sugar which gives it a soft, fluffy interior but a sweet and crunchy outer shell, yum.

You’ll also notice the waffles don’t have defined borders so each one is perfectly imperfect. The owners, Aimee and Brandon got their inspo while on a trip out west and the recipe took months to perfect, but it was worth the wait!

The space is warm and inviting, great for starting off a lazy Saturday. There’s a cozy second floor nook, exposed brick and succulents for days. Did I mention they also serve Mission Coffee Co? What could be better!

The waffle flight is coolest concept; choose 3 flavors (sweet or savory), a perfect sampling portion and it eliminates all the decision making.

My favorite was the Bourbon BBQ Pork Duo, with the Balsamic Chicken Sriracha coming in as a close second. We also sampled the Carrot Cake and the Lemon Crème + Berries which would satisfy any sweet tooth. Next on my list is the Bacon, Basil & Brie!

Our night was full of waffle flights, friends and countless photos. Shout out to the amazing folks at Belgian Iron for having us!
